Opthalmologist Joins International Eyecare Center

Jeffrey M. Couch, M.D., FACS is now providing ophthalmology services for International Eyecare Center patients in Mexico and Fulton, MO. Dr. Couch provides the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease as well as primary services including comprehensive eye examinations, diabetic eye care and screenings for diabetics, as well as the the fitting of contact lenses and Lasik pre-and post-procedure care. Dr. Couch will serve as a consultant for medical and surgical evaluations.

Dr. Couch received his medical degree in 1981 at the University of Cincinnati-College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH. Following an internship in Internal Medicine, Dr. Couch completed an Ophthalmology residency at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. and a Corneal and Oculoplastics Fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital in London, England. Dr. Couch completed his undergraduate degree at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Upon completion of his training, he taught full time at the Yale School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. He was also Chief of Ophthalmology at the West Haven Veterans Hospital.

Dr. Couch served as President and Chief of Corneal and Oculoplastic Surgery at Midwest Eye Institute in Kansas City, MO and was founder and Medical Director of vision Correction Centers in Kansas City, MO and Leawood, KS. The author of over 50 publications, Dr. Couch has written a textbook on LASIK and chapters of other surgical textbooks. He has taught courses both nationally and internationally on the surgical treatment of eye disorders.

The recipient of numerous research grants, he has played an active role in bringing eye medications to market that are still in use today.

Dr. Couch is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, serves as a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Association for Research in Vision inOphthalmology, the Association for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the International society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
